We're back with our increasingly popular Splurge vs Steal feature. This time we bring you some designer jewellery. Shehla Chatoor's fabulous jewellery and some pieces from high street newbie Sapphire that are a fraction of the price.
Shehla Chatoor's designer jewellery became an instant hit when she launched it earlier this year. Her pieces have been spotted on celebrities and socialites, and work well with both eastern and western ensembles. Shehla uses Indian and oriental elements and combines them with her unique aesthetic sense. Shehla's pieces are a great alternative to "real" jewellery and perfect for destination weddings as well as less formal occasions.
The newly-opened Sapphire had a trial range of accessories on opening day that echoed Shehla's pieces although they don't have the level of detailing and flair that Shehla's pieces do. The quality and finishing of Sapphire's pieces is great although the designs are a little pedestrian compared to Shehla's. Still, at an average of Rs5,000 - 6,000 compared to Rs18,000 and up for a Shehla necklace, Sapphire's a great way to get the look for less.
The Sapphire pieces sold out on the first day and I'm not sure when they'll have more in - but when they do, grab them before they're gone.
